The Lagos State Tourism and Inter-Governmental Relations ministry has endorsed the EKO Music Festival (EKO MF).
In a letter dated March 23, 2013, and signed on March 26 by Mrs Morounranti Alebiosu, the ministry, in line with set vision of making Lagos State the preferred tourist destination in Nigeria and indeed Africa, said it was pleased to be associated with the organiser’s vision and drive in showcasing the musical excellence and peculiarity of the Nigerian people.
Alebiosu, a senior special assistant to the governor, added that “by extension, the Lagos State government has endorsed your music festival”.
The festival is scheduled to hold from April 26-28.
Reacting to the endorsement, Mr Ayo George of In-House Entertainment in Lagos expressed his gratitude to the people that had helped to ensure that EKO MF received government support.
He said it had taken years of planning, holding meetings with some event stakeholders and dilligence on the part of his crew for EKO to get where it is as at now.
“No single person can pull such a huge event off without the support of individuals and government. We have found that in Governor Fashola, Mr Seye Kehinde of City People, TeeMac Iseli, Barrister Gbenga M. Aduloju and many others. We are especially thankful for the efforts put into this project by the publisher of City People. Right from the start of the marketing of EKO MF, he has always been there for us.
“With more financial support, we shall lock Lagos down for the three days. Of course it’s the maiden edition, we shall do our best to showcase the best of Nigerian music in Lagos. We may not be able to accommodate all musicians at this time, but we shall try to put up good shows for the days EKO MF holds and for the fans”, he said.http://xclusivetalk.blogspot.com
