Nyako spoke to a delegation of political leaders from the 21 local government areas in the state, who paid him a solidarity visit in Yola, the state capital on Saturday.
In a statement issued by his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Ahmad Sajoh, Gov. Nyako was quoted as saying that when the National Leadership of the PDP through an unjust, unfair and unconstitutional means decided on August 29, 2012 to dissolve the Adamawa State Executive Committee of the Party, “we raised objections on grounds of the negative consequences of such action if allowed to subsist.
“We said a committee set up by the National Working Committee of the Party had conducted the election of the members of the state executive concerned and in their report they said ‘the state congress in Adamawa State was generally peaceful, free, fair and transparent and in strict compliance with the constitution and guidelines of the Party’
“Yet, the Wadata Plaza based PDP factional Leadership dissolved the exco on the spurious excuse that the chairman and the governor came from the same ward.”
The governor further noted that despite the gross injustice, most people failed to see the dangers the action portended for the nation, democracy and the PDP as a political party.
Speaking on PDP’s position on the ‘inconclusive’ Anambra elections, Nyako said, “Even though the names of their candidate and that of his family and parents were missing from the voter register, the national leadership of his party adjudged the election as credible.”
This, he said was in spite of the fact that even the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, admitted that the election was flawed.
The governor lamented that never in the history of politics and democracy has a political party disowned its candidate and stood by a rival candidate without any justification “except in the case of the current factional national leadership of the PDP”.
