Witnesses said the first blast occurred at main Incholi Street at Hussain Pan Shop where scores of people were gathered at a tea stall. The second bomb exploded with the gape of few seconds yards away from the first one in the remits of Samnabad police station in Block 20 of Federal B area.
Rescuers of various welfare organisations shifted the victims to hospitals. Doctors said that four of the people brought there were already dead while five injured succumbed to injures during treatment. Another five wounded were said to be critical.
Law enforcers including police and Rangers cordoned off the area and dispersed the crowd gathered at the crime scene. The residents of Incholi, a predominantly Shia neighbourhood, came out of their homes and staged a protest.
The blasts also damaged seven shops and over a dozen vehicles and motorbikes. A KESC PMT was also damaged which plunged the area into darkness. Bomb disposal squad experts said that both explosive devices were fixed in motorbikes parked on the roads and were exploded with remote control. Shia Ulema Council and Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen announced three-day mourning and demanded immediate action against the outlawed militant organisations.
Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) also condemned the incident and announced day of mourning today (Saturday).
