FRSC arrests 1, 800 suspects, prosecutes 300

The Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC) yesterday said no fewer than 1, 800 motorists, who violated various traffic offenses on the Lagos- Abeokuta old road, have been arrested since January till date.
The Itori Unit Commander of the Corp, Fatai Bakare, who disclosed this to journalists during the Ramadan special patrol on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, said that 300 among the suspects had been prosecuted.
Bakare said the 300 offenders were convicted by the joint mobile court of the FRSC. He said: “We have a mobile court, a joint mobile court in Ota with Ota, Agbado and Idiroko unit commands.
We have prosecuted not less than 300 offenders from January till date through our mobile court and we have arrested about 1, 800 offenders this year”.
He said the offences committed by the offenders ranged from tyre violation, brake light violation, windscreen violation, driver’s license violation, seat belt violation, while the few commercial vehicles among them were arrested and fined for overloading.
