The party said this after a meeting of the PDP Elders’ Committee in the state.
The leaders of the party in a communique read after the meeting by the Secretary of the PDP Elders Committee, Mr. Dosu Oladipo, threatened that any PDP member who flouted the directive would be sanctioned.
Some of the leaders of the party who attended the meeting held at the PDP state secretariat in Osogbo included, the Chairman of the Elders Committee, Alhaji Shuaibu Oyedokun, PDP Chairman in the state and Alhaji Gani Olaoluwa.
Oyedokun said the Minister of State for Defence, Erelu Olusola Obada, Chief Ebenezer Babatope, Olasunkanmi Akinlabi, Wole Oke, Tajudeen Oladipo, Fatai Akinbade, Senator Iyiola Omisore and some other leaders of the party were not present at the meeting but were in support of the party’s decision.
Asked if the party was planning to sanction Oyinlola, Oyedokun said he believed that the crisis would be resolved and the former would come back.
The communique read in part, “It was unanimously agreed that no member of the PDP in Osun State should attend any meeting called by the so-called New PDP or Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola. Disobedience to this will attract sanctions.
“Pending the resolution of the case filed in court by Oyinlola’s group, we demand that the office of the secretary of the party should be given to the PDP in Osun State.
“The PDP in Osun State is resolved to recapture power from the ruling APC in the 2014 governorship election and the party will also deliver the state in the 2015 presidential election.”
But it appears that some of the party leaders in the state are not satisfied with the decision of the PDP in Osun State to dump Oyinlola. At the same time, some of them still pledged loyalty to the PDP faction led by Alhaji Bamangar Tukur and to President Goodluck Jonathan.
However, some of those who are supposed to attend the meeting including two governorship aspirants, who Oyedokun said were in support of the decision, Akinbade and Oke, denied the claim. They spoke separately with our corespondent on the telephone saying they were not part of the meeting and could not have been part of the decision taken.
Akinbade said, “It is a big fraud, I was not part of the meeting where the decision was taken.”
Oke also said, “ I wasn’t at the meeting and I was not part of the decision but I am loyal to my president, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan. We should await the result of the consultation panel on the crisis. I believe the crisis will soon be resolved.”
