Man hit by suicide bomb blast outside Stade de France that killed 6 survives after shrapnel smashes into his smartphone

A Frenchman has told of how his life was saved by his mobile phone, after he was caught in the middle of last night's horrifying terrorist attacks in Paris.
The man, named only as Sylvestre, had just ended a phone call when a terrorist blew himself up just metres from where he stood - the first of two suicide explosions and a bombing at the Stade de France which killed at least six people.
A flying piece of shrapnel from the blast smashed into his phone, which would have caused his head to 'explode' had it made impact just seconds later.
The double suicide blasts at the stadium came as part of a series of coordinated attacks which left at least 127 people dead and the city paralysed with fear.

Sylvestre was also struck by shrapnel in his foot and abdomen but is lucky to be alive after the stadium attack, which also left several people seriously hurt.
President Francois Hollande was evacuated from the stadium, where he was watching the friendly match with Germany with the German interior minister, when the first blast sounded.
Filmed by a fan, chilling footage of the blasts shows a French player in possession of the ball during the first half of the match before a huge explosion can be heard in the background, at 9.17pm.
Confusion followed as no one understood the implication of the blast, with some of the 80,000 fans at the stadium even cheering what they believed to be a firework.
It is believed the first terrorist detonated the explosive device while trying to enter Gate J of the stadium, killing at least three fans.
Two minutes later, a second blast echoed through the stadium.
Reports indicate that one of the bombs was detonated near a McDonald's restaurant on the fringes of the stadium, which is due to host the European Championship in seven months' time.
Three attackers are said to have died at the stadium.

Despite the terrifying explosion, the game continued until thousands of the terrified fans gathered on the pitch at the Stade de France.
They were afraid to leave the pitch which the uncertainty of the continued violence going on in other parts of the city.
Around 10.30pm, a stadium announcer reportedly told the crowd to avoid certain exits 'due to events outside', without elaborating.
At first, the announcement prompted panic, but then the crowds walked out of the stadium hugging each other and checking their phones for the latest news of the violence.
The president of the French Football Federation later confirmed an explosion at Gate J of the national stadium but that the ground had been secured.
Just hours before the blast, the German team were evacuated from their hotel following a bomb scare.
The German team and staff were forced to stay the night inside the dressing room at the stadium, while waiting for information on how to get to their team hotel.
Germany manager Joachim Low, whose side were beaten 2-0 during the game, told how his players were in a state of shock after the match.
‘We are all shattered and shocked,’ he told ARD. ‘For me personally the sport takes a backseat.
‘We are baffled at the moment. When I heard the band I could imagine what that would be.’

Hundreds of fans banded together, distressed at their situation as French police attempted to regain control.
Simon Hunter, 27, a British designer who lives in Paris, was at the match with his father Martin, 66, and says they were caught up in a 'stampede' when news of the attack filtered through.
'We were watching the game then we heard two massive explosions,' he told the Mirror Online. 'They were like nothing I've ever heard before - but no one seemed to think much of it and the game carried on.
'I checked my phone and I started getting messages saying that there had been hostages taken and my friend had been driving and saw a car covered in bullet holes and people running around covered in blood.'
He added that he had 'never been so terrified in my life.'

Machine gun fire and screams were heard from inside the restaurant on Rue Bichat, close to where the Charlie Hebdo shootings happened in January, at around 9pm.
An eyewitness said the two explosions at the stadium were easily loud enough to be heard over the sound of cheering fans. Sirens were heard immediately and a helicopter was seen circling overhead.
As anti-terrorist police flooded the area, an officer on the scene warned 'the gunman is suspected to be still on the loose. People should leave the area'.
The English FA, meanwhile, have confirmed that they will liaise with their French counterparts ahead of next Tuesday's friendly match at Wembley before any further announcements are made.
Les Bleus are due to face Roy Hodgson's men, but the encounter is now under a cloud of doubt after the alarming developments in the French capital.
Indeed, the prospect of the match being postponed looks likely given the horrific nature of the attacks.

Cristiano Ronaldo says he has women in his life who know about each other

Cristiano Ronaldo has admitted that he has 'a few' women in his life currently but is in the process of working out which one is the best for him. The Portugal and Real Madrid forward said this while speaking on The Jonathan Ross Show to promote his new film.

Ronaldo, who split from long-term girlfriend Irina Shayk almost a year ago hasn't had a girlfriend, just females that take care of his needs. When asked by Ross whether there was "someone special" in his life, Ronaldo replied: “A few."
He admitted that the women in question are aware of each other, and added: I need to figure out who is better.”

Ronaldo is now rumoured to be dating Italian model and actress Alessia Tedeschi but the 30-year-old Portugal captain also claimed that while he had little problem meeting members of the opposite sex, finding people he wants to start a relationship with is really difficult.

“Well, it’s not easy. Seriously speaking, it’s not easy. I know 50 per cent they approach just for interest, it’s normal, not just me but all the people who are famous they have these kind of problems. "But in another way, I think I’m a confident guy, I’m tall, I have my own teeth, I have a nice body so I think the other 50 per cent it’s because I have great qualities too.” He added.

Expert Says BVN Could End ATM Frauds

A financial expert, Prince Oyeyinka Oyekola, has commended the Central Bank of Nigeria for the introduction of the Biometric Verification of Number (BVN) by account holders in all commercial banks in the country.
Speaking against the background of suffering by bank account holders who have not completed the BVN process, Oyekola said the exercise is a worthwhile in the long run.
Millions of bank account holders who could not meet the October 2015 ending deadline for BVN have been running into problems. Accounts were blocked by commercial banks leading to long queue at ATM centres and banking halls.

How BVN Influenced Value Of Naira

The directive from the Central Bank Of Nigeria instructing bureau de change operators to demand details of Bank Verification Number (BVN) before selling dollars to their customers  is perceived to have impacted on the value of the naira.
The CBN gave the directive to ensure the money was used for the purpose intended.
As at Thursday, the naira was trading at N230 per dollar on the parallel market firmer than N232 last week while on the interbank market, it traded at N199.48 a dollar compared with the previous week’s N196.98 closing level, the Leadership reports.

The BVN requirement is discouraging many people from buying dollars from the bureaux de change. Many of us now have unsold stock of dollars bought from the central bank because we cannot sell without asking our customers to provide the bank verification number,” bureau de change operator Harrison Owoh said.

”The introduction of the BVN has reduced demand for dollar on the bureaux de change segment causing the naira to remain unchanged at the parallel market,” another dealer said.
The BVN is an initiative of the CBN which is meant to verify the identity of bank’s customer and reduce fraud.
With the increasing incidents of compromise on conventional security systems (password and PIN), there is a high demand for greater security on access to sensitive or personal information in the banking system.

Emirates unveils new Airbus A380 with a record 615 seats after ripping out first class to pack in more passengers

Economy class is getting even bigger after Emirates reconfigured its new Airbus A380-800 planes to hold the most seats ever for an airliner.
Already the world’s largest passenger plane, the new two-class A380 will hold a staggering 615 passengers in business and economy – but travellers in so-called cattle class will not lose any legroom inside Emirates' overhauled cabin.
The luxury Gulf carrier has made room for 130 additional economy seats, or 13 rows with 10 seats in each, by scrapping the spacious first class cabin and trimming 18 flat-bed seats from business class.

The website said the seat pitch (the space between the back of one seat and the back of the seat behind it) will remain 32-34in and the width will be slightly smaller at 17.5in – half an inch less than Emirates' three-class A380s, which have fewer economy seats.
Emirates’ existing A380s have two different configurations with three classes – first, business and economy – seating 489 or 517 passengers.
If an airline decided to scrap first and business classes and convert an entire A380-800 into an economy-class only configuration, it could hold 853 passengers.
While it may be 'cattle class', Emirates' economy cabin is among the best in the industry, taking seventh place in this year's Skytrax World Airline Awards.
One of its biggest perks is an in-flight entertainment system that has been named the world's best for a record 11 consecutive years. It has more than 500 films on offer, and it displays incredible scenes from on-board cameras that show the pilots' view or the ground below, said Emirates.

Terrified tourists watch lion eats their vehicle's TIRE during safari in South Africa

This is the moment terrified tourists watched a lion eating the tires of their vehicle while they were on a safari drive in Tanzania.
Pictures taken in the Serengeti National Park show hungry lions gnawing at the wheels of the truck during an hour-long attack.
Holidaymakers can be seen cowering inside as the animals 'wreaked havoc' destroying the tires and attempting to crack the enforced-glass windows.

A prankster jumped behind the former Manchester United star and raised two fingers to look like bunny's ears - a classic trick to pull on somebody posing for a picture.

Wayne Rooney SLAPS Wade Barrett at WWE RAW after wrestler trash talks

Wayne Rooney lands a theatrical slap on Wade Barrett after being called out by the wrestler at WWE RAW in Manchester

Wayne Rooney theatrically slapped a brash 6ft 7in WWE superstar in front of thousands of fans during a ringside stand-off last night. The Manchester United and England captain hit Briton Wade Barrett at the Manchester Arena after the wrestler trash-talked him. Rooney, 30, was sat in the front row with his son Kai, six, last night when Lancashire-born Barrett grabbed the microphone and said: 'In this ring are two men who can be easily be described as championship material. 'Which is, of course, is more than can be said of Wayne Rooney and Manchester United.' Footage shows the professional wrestler and former bare-knuckle boxer climbing down to confront Rooney before the footballer knocked him down in a theatrical climax to the mock battle, resulting in huge cheers from the crowd.

Last night's fight was a culmination of a previous row between the pair on Twitter, dating back to last February when Barrett, whose real name is Stu Bennett, accused Rooney for diving during a FA Cup clash against his beloved Preston North End. The Manchester United and England captain attended the Raw show along with Old Trafford assistant manager Ryan Giggs and former team-mate, now at West Bromwich Albion, Darren Fletcher. The trio were pictured backstage before the event, smiling alongside former World Wrestling Entertainment champion John Bradfield Layfield. But things soon turned 'heated' for Rooney as he arrived at his ringside seats with his six-year-old son, Kai. After spotting the record England goalscorer in the front row, Manchester-wrestler Wade Barrett attempted to humiliate the 30-year-old striker on the microphone. Behemoth Barrett, 35, goaded the England international, saying: 'In this ring are two men who can be easily be described as championship material. Which is, of course, more than can be said of Wayne Rooney and Manchester United.' Barrett then made his insult personal as he made reference to Rooney's eldest son. He sneered: 'I'd hate for your little boy to sit there and watch his own father fail. Because let's face it, he gets to experience that every single time you step on a football pitch.' The rant prompted Rooney to rise from his chair and challenge the one-time bare knuckle boxer Barrett to a fight. And moments later the pair came to blows with Rooney landing a thumping slap across the wrestler's face. The frenzied Manchester crowd chanted Rooney's name as the striker's blow left Barrett sprawling on the floor. The incident - true to professional wrestling - was of course scripted and England skipper Rooney 'revelled' his role. Afterwards, Barrett tweeted: 'I'm heading to Old Trafford early tomorrow morning. I hope @WayneRooney has the guts to meet me there.' He then added: 'Does anyone have Phil Bardsley's phone number?' Last night's fight was a culmination of a previous row between the pair on Twitter, dating back to last February when Barrett, whose real name is Stu Bennett, accused Rooney for diving during a FA Cup clash against his beloved Preston North End. The Manchester United and England captain attended the Raw show along with Old Trafford assistant manager Ryan Giggs and former team-mate, now at West Bromwich Albion, Darren Fletcher.
