The Togolese striker, 31, may have lost his job in September when Spurs terminated his contract by mutual consent, but the club are still paying him a massive £100,000 per week, and will continue to do so for the next SIX MONTHS.
That’s still only around three weeks wages to the striker, who stands to earn a total sum of £5.25million by the end of June 2016 from his former employers.
Spurs tried desperately to shift the striker off their books after making his loan move from Manchester City permanent in 2012, and a deal taking him to Tim Sherwood’s Aston Villa looked to be near to completion in the summer.
But the deal fell through at the final hour – supposedly because an act of god told Adebayor not to move to the midlands – and Spurs chairman Daniel Levy vetoed a loan move to West Ham.
Since leaving Spurs, Adebayor has returned to his native Togo.
However the forward has been keeping in shape by playing friendlies in as Spurs kit and free transfers to Watford or struggling Chelsea have been mooted.
