‘Baby face’ song is mine, Jazzy blasts Wande Coal

Marvin crew boss Don Jazzy and Wande Coal are not best best of friends at the moment with Jazzy accusing Wande of intellectual property theft.

Don Jazzy went on Twitter to declare that the single ‘Baby face’ released by Wande Coal, Tuesday, is rightfully his.

Wande Coal walked out of the Marvin Crew label to form his Black Entertainment music label less than a year after pitching tents with the ace music producer following the demise of Mo’Hits.  According to Don Jazzy, this single ‘Baby Face’ was recorded by him (Don Jazzy) over a year ago.

But Wande Coal is fighting back with all his might

We gather that close friends and associates are already scrambling to have this matter sorted out between these two quickly without any further smearing from any of the parties on the social media.
Their debacle comes barely twenty four hours after singers Davido and Wacomzy clutched each others throat on Twitter.  Wacamzy had dissed Davido’s song ‘Skibodo’ ridiculing it as a weak song, Davido and Wacamzo have since been exchanging diss notes on their social media pages.

Wonders they say shall never end and in Nigeria you can bet on that.

It was gathered that the woman whose identity was not yet known started screaming during the prayer session and began to bleed from the vagina before the horse came out during a prophesy programme at World Liberation Ministry located along old Sapele-Benin express road on Tuesday.  “I can’t describe the object. We have seen people that vomited several things during our service but not this type of thing. God has been blessing our ministry with prophesies and miracles, “The pastor told Journalists.

Is this a sign of endtime or what do you think?

This man was caught at Tipper garage near Gwarimpa in Abuja yesterday with a dead baby stuffed in a suitcase. They said he was arrested on a tip off...but another source said that the conductor of the bus he entered asked him to bring his suitcase so it can be stored properly and the man vehemently refused. The suspicious conductor asked him what was inside the suitcase and he refused to say. As the man tried to leave the bus, the conductor and others seized the suitcase from him and found the dead boy inside.
I don't have all the details...but will try to find out! How anybody can do this to a child...

Nigerians block road over murder, Indian police demands deportation

A new kind of history was created in Goa today with foreign nationals - over 150 Nigerians – staging a road blockade on a National Highway, in protest of a murder of one of their national in a coastal village of Parra, near famous Calangute beach.

The irate mob of Nigerians, who live in Parra village, also beat up some villagers earlier, alleging that the Parra villagers have killed their Nigerian colleague.

Calangute MLA Michael Lobo, who is also a resident of Parra, has countered the allegation stating that the murder has occurred out of a gang war between drug dealers and the villagers are simply dragged into it.

The body of the unidentified Nigerian was found lying hardly 500 metres away from the house of Lobo, the ruling BJP legislator.

The furious Nigerians, after manhandling the villagers, chased the police jeep, blocked it at Porvorim, pulled out the dead body and staged a road blockade, keeping the dead body on the road.

The police were taking the dead body to the Goa Medical College hospital for postmortem.

While police cleared the blockade almost after one hour as it resulted into heavy traffic jam, the Nigerians then went to the Mapusa police station, demanding arrest of the murderers.

The tension created by the foreign nationals compelled chief minister Manohar Parrikar to rush to Porovorim as well as Mapusa police station to calm down the situation.

The police later detained some of the protesting Nigerians.

Lobo told goanews.com that he has spoken to Parrikar, demanding that all the Nigerians be immediately deported.

“Either they live here illegally or get involved in some petty crimes so that they cannot be deported. Some of the Nigerians are students studying in metros of India but are actually found in Goa for almost 10 months”, he said.

Besides running a drug racket, he says the young Nigerians also run a restaurant in Parra village with a local front, creating nuisance with loud music till early morning.

“Even police are scared of them. The whole police machinery as well as all the governments, including my BJP government, has failed to control the menace of these rowdy Nigerians”, Lobo told goanews.com.

He also alleged that most of the Nigerians are involved in huge quantity of Cocaine, spoiling Goans youngsters – both boys and girls.

Boko Haram kill 40, torch 300 homes in Maiduguri: official

MAIDUGURI   (AFP) – Islamist insurgents last week killed a total of 40 people and wounded a dozen others in two separate incidents in restive northeast Nigeria, a local official said Monday.

Some 70 gunmen stormed the town of Bama in Borno state on a convoy of motorcycles and pick-up trucks late Thursday, said Baba Shehu from the area’s local government.
“They shot … 27 persons and injured 12. About 300 houses were burnt,” Shehu told reporters in Borno’s capital Maiduguri, where Boko Haram was founded more than a decade ago.

“Immediately people saw the gunmen, they (locals) started fleeing the town but the insurgents opened fire on them,” said Shehu, adding that the wounded were receiving treatment at a local hospital.

In a separate incident on Saturday, Shehu said 13 people travelling on a bus in the same area were “ambushed by the (Islamist) militants and murdered in cold blood.”

“The attackers took the travellers unawares … Some of the passengers escaped unhurt from the vehicle but were pursued by the insurgents and killed,” he added.

No other details were provided about the attack.

Bama and other remote parts of northeast Nigeria have seen a series of brutal attacks in recent weeks which have left hundreds dead, despite official assurances that the insurgents have been weakened by an ongoing military offensive.

Details of massacres in Borno have typically been slow to emerge.

The mobile phone network in the area has been switched off since May, when President Goodluck Jonathan declared a state of emergency across the northeast and launched the military operation aimed at crushing at the Islamists’ four-year uprising.

Shehu, who blamed the Bama attack on Boko Haram, said the gunmen also destroyed 40 shops, killed livestock and stole roughly four million naira ($25,000, 19,000 euros) from Bama residents.

Wedding massacre

Also on Saturday in Borno, suspected Boko Haram gunmen killed 30 people in a wedding party, including the groom.

The group was on its way back to Borno from a neighbouring state when the attackers opened fire, leaving a trail of bodies lying on the road, residents said.

Boko Haram has said it is fighting to create an Islamic state in Nigeria’s mainly Muslim north but its demands have shifted repeatedly.

The group’s purported leader, Abubakar Shekau, has been declared a global terrorist by the United States, which has put a $7-million bounty on his head.

In 2009, the insurgency was largely concentrated in Borno but later spread across the wider north and as far south as the capital Abuja.

A Human Rights Watch toll earlier this year said the ongoing conflict has cost more than 3,600 lives, including those killed by security forces who have been accused of major abuses, although the current figure is certainly much higher.

The military maintains that its massive offensive against the Islamists, which has included aerial bombings, has left the group in disarray and contained the rebel fighters in remote parts of the northeast.

But a major attack last month in Damaturu, the heavily fortified capital of northeastern Yobe state, cast doubt on that claim.

Shekau claimed responsibility for the October 24 attack in a video released on Sunday and obtained by AFP.

On December 14, Jonathan will have to decide whether to extend the state of emergency when its six-month mandate expires.

Some analysts say the emergency measures and the military assault have been effective, while others counter that Boko Haram could still regroup and resume attacks on a range of targets across the country.

(PHOTOS & VIDEO) A huge fire has gutted the 25 -storey Great Nigeria House building in Lagos earlier today

Lagos – Hundreds of tenants and traders wept on Monday as fire engulfed the Great Nigeria House along Martins Street on Lagos Island, which
served as their offices and warehouses. The fire brought commercial activities in the Balogun area of Lagos Island to a standstill.

Many of the traders were seen scrambling to salvage few of their goods from the burning building.

The 22-storey Great Nigeria House, acclaimed as the fifth tallest building in Nigeria, accommodates Mainstreet Bank and also served as warehouses to some
traders.

According to an eyewitness, the fire started at about 5.00 a.m. and was first noticed on the first floor.

He said that as at 10:30 a.m., the fire had taken over the first four floors.
The eyewitness told reporters that the Federal Fire Service was quick to respond to the distress call of traders and more than five fire engines were lined up to
battle the blaze.

However, it was observed that lack of adequate access to the building hampered the activities of the firemen as the building was surrounded by some other
shopping plazas.

A staff of Mainstream Bank, who pleaded anonymity, told reporters that there was nobody in the building because the fire started before resumption of work.

Efforts to get the situation report from the officials of the Fire Service proved abortive as they were still battling to put out the fire.

An official of the fire service, who spoke with the agency in a rush, said the cause of the fire could not be ascertained yet, but that traders had been told
to vacate the neighbouring buildings.

NAN also reports that as at 11:00 a.m., the firemen were able to contain the fire and also prevented it from spreading to other floors and shopping plazas
around the skyscraper.(NAN)

ASUU considers calling off strike after 13-hour meeting with Jonathan

Abuja – President Goodluck Jonathan on Monday led a negotiation meeting with the leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to end the protracted strike embarked upon by the union since July 1.

The13-hour meeting started at about 2.30 p.m. on Monday at the Presidential Villa and ended at 3.30 a.m. on Tuesday.

The meeting had in attendance the leadership of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) led by their respective Chairmen Abduwaheed Omar and Bobbo Kaigama.

The ASUU team was led by the union’s President, Dr. Nasir Fagge, three former presidents of the union, professors Dipo Fashina, Abdullahi Sule-Kano and Festus Iyayi as well as professors Biodun Osiyemi, Victor Osodeke, Suleiman Abdullahi and Dr. Victor Igbum.

On the government negotiation team were, Vice President Namadi Sambo; Minister of Labour, Chukwuemeka Wogu; Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and the Minister of State for Education, Mr Nyesom Wike.

Also on the government side were the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Anyim Pius Anyim, the Chief of Staff to the President, Mr Mike Oghiadome, and the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission, Prof. Julius Okojie.

Emerging from the meeting, Fagge told State House correspondents that the president had given the delegation a message to its members which would enable the union to call off the strike.

President Goodluck Jonathan (left); ASUU Vice President, Mr. Biodun Ogunyemi Onabanjo (2nd right); Vice President Namadi Sambo (2nd left) and ASUU President, Nasir Faggae (right) during the meeting.

“We have had a lengthy meeting with Mr President, rubbing minds on the ways to address the problems of university education in this country.

“We now have a message from Mr President that we are going to take to our members and we are expecting that our members will respond appropriately to the message of Mr President,” he said

Asked whether union would call off the strike and return to work based on the message from the meeting, Fagge said “that is up to our members.”

Wogu, who spoke for the government, said that the meeting ended positively and the message of the President to ASUU “is full of hope and high expectations.

“The message is full of hope and expectations and our prayer is that they come back with positive response.

“They might not even come back to meet us; they might even take decisions there that will meet your expectations.”

Wogu noted that the offer made by the president was in line with the 2009 agreement reached with the union.

“The offer is within the issues that led to the strike; the issues contained in the 2009 agreement and we did not go beyond the agreement,” he said.

He appealed to Nigerians to be patient with ASUU and gave an assurance that the outcome of the meeting would be positive.

The president appeared to be in high spirits when he entered the venue of the meeting.

While shaking hands with the ASUU president, he exclaimed: “My president! All the problems will be over today; our children must go back to school.”

The president proceeded to shake hands with everyone in attendance at the meeting.

Also, while shaking hands with Omar and Kaigama, Jonathan said: “My presidents, with you here, I am assured everything will go on well, it is signed and sealed.”

The meeting went into a 30-minute break at 6.20 p.m.

During the period, the ASUU delegation went out of the venue of the meeting to the road where the bus that conveyed them was packed and held consultations inside the bus for about 25 minutes.

Prior to the arrival of the ASUU and labour team for the meeting, the president held a closed-door consultation with members of his team.

The discussion, which lasted for about 40 minutes, was attended by the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Mr Mohammed Adoke (SAN).

It will be recalled that ASUU embarked on strike on July 1 over the government failure to implement an agreement reached with the union in 2009 for improved funding for infrastructure development in the universities and payment of lecturers’ Earned Allowances.

Government had set up two committees to address the issues to resolve the crisis but the inability of the committees to reach agreements with ASUU led to the vice-president taking over the negotiation.

On Sept. 19, the vice-president held a special negotiation meeting with the leadership of ASUU and offered an improved government position on the matter but the union rejected the offer.

Many Nigerians have appealed to ASUU to call off the strike. (NAN)
