Uwom, who spoke with journalists shortly after he submitted his
resignation letter at Government House in Port Harcourt, cited the
defection of Governor Amaechi to the All Progressives Congress, APC, as
his reason for quitting the cabinet.
“I am a man that fears God and I am also principled too. I belong to the PDP and cannot continue to remain in the cabinet when my principal has left to join another party”.
In his reaction to the development, Amaechi’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. David Iyofor, said it was Uwom’s choice to resign and wished him well in his future undertakings.
“The man decided to leave the cabinet. That is his choice and we wish him well in whatever he decides to do after”, Iyofor said.
Information Nigeria had earlier reported news of the resignation of chairman of the Rivers State Local Government Service Commission (RSLGSC), Chief Azubuike Nmerukini last week Thursday.
